Silver Care

Your precious new pieces of silver jewelry are now home, safe and sound with you. Congratulations! How do you care for them to maintain their exquisite shine and quality?
Care should be taken to avoid exposing your silver jewelry before using any product that contains bleach, ammonia, acetone (in many nail polish removers), turpentine or before swimming in chlorinated water. These chemicals will break down the alloys in the metal and may leave the surface with pits or a dull finish. Avoid direct contact with perfumes and lotions as they may also affect the finish.
It’s very easy to get your silver jewelry back to its former shine and, like most things, the earlier you catch the tarnish the easier it is to get rid of it. When tarnish starts to turn any colour from yellowish brown to black you may have to remove the tarnish.
The simplest way to keep your silver jewelry lustrous is to simply wash it in a phosphate-free detergent and warm water after each wearing, and dry the piece thoroughly with a soft cloth (never paper).
